Time-Varying Mesh Compression Using an Extended Block Matching Algorithm
TCSVT, 2007
Time-varying mesh, as a new multimedia representation method.
Contribution: An extended block matching algorithm to reduce the temporal redundancy of the geometry information in the time-varying mesh.
Time-varying mesh: generated from multiple viewpoint images of the real-world objects, no explicit vertex correspondence exists between consecutive frames.
Block matching algorithm: find the most similar block pairs under a given matching criterion.
Matching Criterion: quantifies the similarity between the partial surfaces of the current block and the candidate block, using a surface normal vector.
